HKA starts up at The Hastings Academy
Carl Denne of Hastings Kickboxing Academy was been working closely with year 9 and 11 students within in their regular PE classes at The Hastings Academy,
Based out of William Parker Sports College HKA working with the local councils and Mr Coombs (Inclusion and Behaviour manager at The Hastings Academy) to give the children at The Academy different opportunities that most schools don’t offer at the moment. Mr Coombs explained “Martial arts in The Academy gives the students more variety, builds their self confidence and self esteemas well as opening their minds towards different aspects of PE. It’s fantastic to see the students joining in and making a great effort to take on board and engaging with what Carl at HKA and his team have to offer. Its also nice to see some of the Staff taking part as well!”
Kickboxing is not just a sport to me, Its a way of life, says Instructor Carl Denne, If I can go into schools and help promote/teach pupils to have some or more confidence, Improve balance and coordination teach them discipline and respect all in a safe and fun environment then this is all an added bonus to them and the school, The outcome from the classes gives pupils the opportunity to grow as individuals, make more friends within a group, and to work as part of a team.
I’m very proud to be backing the Anti-Bullying campaign along with promoting healthy eating & encourage pupils to get fit by having fun & taking part in this great sport.
Outside of school I run over 12 classes a week including Children from the age 4 up to adults my eldest being 56. Recently I have returned from Germany with 3 members from Hastings Kickboxing Academy having the honour of representing the England Team 2 of which winning a silver and bronze medal in the World championships.
The classes at The Hastings Academy are sponsored by Amicus and are totally free to the pupils, HKA plan to run a full day of Kickboxing at the Academy start this week, Every Monday straight after school 3:20 - 4:20pm.
