Sussex Police have taken part in what is believed to be a worlds first video streaming experience. The project allows individuals to log on to their computers and catch a glimpse of a day in the life of the county's authorities.
Nearly 18,000 people are thought to have tuned in to the first hours of footage that offered a preview of a behind-the-scenes look at the regular tasks carried out by officers and officials in the region, reports the Press Association.
Utilising mobile handsets, laptops and a free live video streaming application, the "day in the life" account of Sussex Police's activities allowed viewers to join in with web chats on social networking website Twitter.
Publicist Kizzi Nkwocha said: "This is a fantastic project that will really help raise the profile of Sussex Police."
